One of the three main functions of the Wellington Schools Endowment Fund is to award grants to the teachers of our district in hopes of enhancing educational opportunities throughout the district.
To apply for a grant, access the application at Endowment Education Grant Application.
The imagination and ingenuity of these grants have exposed Wellington students to unique educational opportunities. The Endowment has sponsored educational field trips and guest speakers, helped enhance academics above and beyond the normal curriculum, provided funds for innovative technology in the classroom, and provided seed money for a variety of school programs and activities. Grants are awarded annually.
The Deborah K. Harrison Memorial Fund, established in 2022.
The Deborah K. Harrison Memorial Fund was endowed by the Harrison family in honor of Debbie Harrison (1952-2020) starting in the fall 2022. Debbie grew up in Detroit and moved to Ohio to teach at Southview High School in Lorain. Moving to Wellington in the early 1980s, Debbie was active in the community and Wellington Schools while her daughters attended.
As an educator herself, Debbie felt passionately that learning goes beyond the four walls of the school room and it was important to experience the world through adventures and cultural immersion. Debbie was an avid traveler and reader (often both at the same time) and loved to experience culture, history, and nature. While traveling, she was often planning the next trip. Because of this, her family established this fund to enable children to continue their education through travel and reading.
This fund is to help children attend educational field trips who wouldn’t be able to otherwise attend, and secondly to help purchase books and other reading materials for elementary school children.
