  • Michael and Molly Adams Scholarship

Wellington High School student Michael Adams died tragically in 1980 while working at his family’s jewelry store.  Michael was sixteen years old, just one week shy of his seventeenth birthday.

Following Michael’s death, his mother asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a scholarship to perpetuate Michael’s memory and to further academic excellence among Wellington students.  Family, friends, and members of the community made donations, which allowed a scholarship to be given in Michael’s memory every year for the next twenty-nine years.

Michael’s mother, Molly Adams, passed away in the fall of 2009.  Her family chose to honor her memory by adding to Michael’s scholarship and changing the name to the Michael and Molly Adams Scholarship.

In 2010, the family transferred the Michael and Molly Adams Scholarship to the Wellington Schools Endowment Fund.  The scholarship is given annually to a deserving graduating senior from Wellington High School, based upon letters of recommendation and academic performance.
