  • May and George Green Scholarship

May and George Green were both teachers in Wellington schools for many years. At an alumni gathering, their son, Dr. Charles Green, was somewhat surprised to hear so many favorable comments about how his parents had influenced the lives of other alumni. Even as a high school senior, Dr. Green realized the importance of a good education, and having heard how his parents touch the lives of their students, Dr. Green was inspired to ensure that other Wellington students will be helped along the way toward a higher education. In 2002, Dr. Green decided to memorialize his parents by creating the May and George Green Scholarship. In 2007, Dr. Green extended his commitment by endowing a second Green Scholarship. He requested that the second scholarship be awarded with a preference for students intending to pursue higher education in math and/or computer science.
